Timeout in Baghdad

Dexter Filkins writes about taking timeout from war to watch his "beloved team from Miami." The article appeared in this Sunday's edition of the New York Times, Play Magazine.

I'm afraid that much as I admire his work, Dexter and I are gonna have Issues... as a former Buffalo Bills season ticket holder, the Dolphins are my most-loathed team!

Thanks Maxie. I wonder if you have already read other articles about journalists watching sports in a war zone. Australian in Baghdad watching rugby?

Thanks to Cyn's organized site I found the radio interview that I remembered Mick doing where he talked about watching a football (soccer) match with his Iraqi friends.

Cyn, The Bills are not doing too bad this season..Let's see how they fair against the Jets today.

Delie, it is hard to find ANYTHING about Rugby in the U.S...Remember when "the Australian" had to come on AC to explain the game.

Thanks Maxie!
I'm glad Dexter had some form of relaxation while covering the war. It must have seemed surreal be in a place so far removed, and hear the crowd roar of a football game.

I like the audio, MWmcFan! Thank you! I should have started to check Cyn's website before asking... Sorry Cyn ;-)

Maxie, I remember very well what the former "hooker" had to explain to AC! Great moment.
